Ultrasound Machine - How They Help

Ultrasound operates by sending out a specific type of sound wave. The frequency is beyond the range of human hearing. Tiny sound waves are sent through matter, sending back an image of what is found. Ultrasound carries no known risks for the human body. It does send out small amounts of radiation, but the amounts are so low that they will not have any effect on the health of the body at all.

The applications of ultrasound machines are numerous and include diagnosis of diseases and conditions; biomedical applications (i.e., the treatment of tumors); industrial applications, which usually involve finding defects in materials; and the cleaning of medical equipment and jewelry. Many people are surprised to find out that many animals, such as bats, dolphins, and dogs use and/or hear ultrasound waves

Many scientific applications also exist. One example is range finding. In range finding, underwater terrain can be mapped. Another example is the destruction of disease-causing bacteria in sewage and contaminated water. Scientists are also currently performing experiments on various other potential scientific applications.

An ultrasound image (obstetric sonography) of a fetus is what most people are familiar with when seeing images of the womb. The image is received when ultrasound systems are placed against the stomach of pregnant woman to study the fetus and its orientation in the womb. Medical professionals and pregnant women are able to use these machines to assess the well being of the fetus.

Ultrasound machines can provide invaluable information about a woman's pregnancy and her growing baby. The physician is able to determine the gestational age, growth rate and location of the fetus. Also, the ultrasound can be used to find out if there are any abnormalities with the fetus or whether the mother has any problems such as an ectopic pregnancy or whether there are more than one growing baby in her womb. Fetal sex and abnormalities can be misdiagnosed so ultrasound results are not guaranteed to be accurate.

Ultrasound machines are used with many women who have gynecological symptoms. The procedure consists of inserting a special wand in to the vagina to visualize the female reproductive system. Ovarian cysts and other pelvic disorders can be diagnosed with the ultrasound machine. Other gynecology problems, also, can be diagnosed.

Ultrasound machines are used for many different purposes from providing vitally important medical information to cleaning jewelry. This machine can diagnose disease, treat tumors, and find material defects, and sanitize medical equipment. Ultrasound waves are inaudible to humans, but dogs, bats and dolphins are able to hear the sound waves. In case of pregnancy, ultrasound gel is applied to the pregnant woman's abdomen. Then, external ultrasound systems are used to get a picture of the growing baby as well as the baby's location in the womb. The results from this test are invaluable to pregnant women and physicians alike.
